‘A little Bird Told Me’.. Textile Birds – A Hand and Machine Stitch Workshop 2023

£120

A fun two days producing a completely original textile bird..can be as fantastical as you wish or bring along a couple of pictures of the bird you wish to emulate – if you want a more realistic garden bird.  Do email to be put on WL for next set of dates.

Description

These textile birds have developed from a workshop with textile group; Found The Thread, and they produced such fabulous birds I am now offering it as a more structured two day workshop. The first day will be spent on the body of your bird, including the head, beak and feet. You will have the afternoon to choose how to embellish your bird, choosing from yarns and feathers, silk throwsters waste, sari silk, velvet.  If you would like to handstitch into the head you will need to clear your diary that evening to work on him/her at home before the second day.

The second day will be spent on the assembly – how to attach all your fabrics so your bird takes on a life of its own.  I will show you how to use decorative lace and Tyvek and sheers to great effect creating wings and plumage but each bird will be very much your own, depending on the materials and techniques you decide to use.

Basic machine sewing skills required for creating the body.

Please see the requirements tab for what you will need to gather for both days.
