Dot’s Kaleidescope Landscapes – Machine Embroidery

A fun and creative two day workshop based around the techniques involved in creating richly coloured and shaded papers using bleeding tissue, rag paper, free machine embroidery combined with handstitch.

The shapes and colours that emerge when using bleeding tissue are quite serendipitous and can make the design stage quite organic and great fun. however, some basic principles of landscape composition are covered and you will have the opportunity to study lots of examples to help you create a little landscape gem.Tissue is treated and then used to create collages which will make up the layers of your landscape using free machine embroider.
Free machine and hand embroidery techniques will be demonstrated. This project is a lovely way of ensuring you always have a little portable hand embroidery project on the go.

Had a fun day with Dot today. Lots of ‘playing’ with various elements’, yet ended up with a superb finished item. Our tutor, Dot, is full of encouragement and helps us all to go that ‘little bit further’. A delightful and fun day. Thank you Dot, and Alex.
