Goldwork Beetle / Dragonfly *New Spaces 2024

£60

This is the perfect introduction to working in Goldwork embroidery with Wendy Mansfield. Spend a day learning the basics of handling metal threads whilst producing your choice of this gorgeous bug or dragonfly.  In addition to learning about the different types of thread, participants will also be introduced to the main techniques, including cutwork, padding, couching and chipping.

Description

Gold work is a surface embroidery technique which originates in the military , royal regalia and ecclesiastical. The introduction of more modern materials such as sequin waste and metallic leather takes contemporary gold work to another level and Wendy Mansfield shares her working practice combining traditional techniques with modern designs with beautiful results.

The class is the first of regular stand alone classes which will be scheduled in 2022.  Suitable for those with a little hand embroidery experience and those wishing to extend their skills.

Tutor provides all the materials for £15 payable on the day to make either the bug or the dragonfly.  Once booking please email which motif you would prefer to do on the day.
