Impressionistic Birds in Acrylic with Marie Antoniou


A super opportunity to work with Marie painting your chosen bird on canvas.


The focus of this workshop will be to explore through the subject of birds through impressionistic brushstrokes, shapes and colour. The day will also Include an introduction to Acrylic’s and how to get the best out of the medium. There will be demonstrations and plenty of one to one guidance throughout the day. This workshop is suitable for absolute beginners as well as the more experienced painter. I will bring a folder of colour photographic reference, but feel free to bring your own photo’s.
Marie is an artist and tutor specialising in Acrylics. She loves painting wildlife and exploring the subject through marks and colours. She is represented by several galleries and over the last 6 years has exhibited with the David Shepherd Wildlife artist of the year exhibition at the Mall galleries, London. In 2016 she was also a contributing author to the acrylic section of Artists Painting techniques, published by Dorling Kindersley. Marie is also a contributing author to the Artist magazine.

You will need :
Your Lunch,
Acrylic paints – I use Daler Rowney System 3 original
Colours I normally have in my kit are as follows:
  • Process Cyan
  • Ceruleun blue
  • Cadmium red
  • Crimson or process Magenta
  • Cadmium yellow
  • Lemon yellow
  • White
  • Yellow Ochre
  • Burnt sienna
  • Phthalo green
  • Deep Violet
A minimum of Two canvases approx size: 18 X 20 inches
I mainly use flat head brushes, sizes range from 1 to 3 inches.
Other items include:
  • Palette
  • mixing tray or scrap paper
  • Kitchen Roll
  • Water pot
  • Table Easel
