Combine velvets and free motion embroidery to create a delicate panel for the wall. A great introduction to structural textiles using water soluble fabric.

Description

This is a structured workshop designed to encourage the textile artist to think outside the box and work with material combinations they may not have previously considered.
Participants will create a highly ornate panel with the use of water soluble fabrics combined with appliqued space dyed velvets and decorative cords. Students will dissolve, dry and embellish panel at home but will be shown fully how to mount finished article.

Skill level

Understanding of free motion embroidery would be advantageous as using the free motion foot for intricate stitching.

  • Machine with drop feed
  • normal presser foot
  • selection of machine embroidery threads
  • craft soldering tool
  • a couple of empty bobbins
  • ruler and biro
  • basic sewing kit to inc scissors
  • 80/12 or 90/14 machine needle
  • lunch
