Interlocking Chains Quilt Workshop with Janet Goddard

Spend a day constructing this gorgeous quilt with quilt designer Janet Goddard.  If you are interested in coming to this workshop in 2022 do contact me.

This quilt is made from a single repeating block but what makes it really clever is the fabric placement which continues into the linked blocks. It is a pattern which needs careful piecing but once you have made your first couple of blocks you will be well on your way. During the day Janet will give you lots of tips for accurate piecing, colour placement and finishing techniques.

The quilt is jelly roll friendly or can be made from fabric scraps. I think that the pattern works best when the fabrics for the chains are all of a similar colour value eg all dark or all light.

It isn’t a beginner class so students will need to have some experience of patchwork and be able to stitch an accurate ¼ in seam and use a rotary cutter and ruler.

A very interesting and challenging (which I like) block x 2 made today on the interlocking chains workshop on 12 August 2021. Janet is very an excellent teacher and competent quilter. She is friendly and has a lovely style of explaining and encouraging students. Although I arrived too early at Elm Farm studio, Alex was very welcoming and even supplied gluten free biscuits for my afternoon cup of tea, very impressed. I left for the day feeling I had learnt the two blocks required to continue making my quilt top. PPE was good with acrylic shields between students. The other students were friendly like-minded quilters. Overall a lovely day out making/sewing anything to do with quilting. I would recommend this venue and tutor for any sewing/quilting enthusiast for a great day out.
