A home machine embroidery workshop in a box creating a textural landscape, utilising the library of various stitch effects available to you when using the free motion/darning foot and the presser foot.

Description

Choose either to work from your own landscape picture or work in a more abstract manner building upon layers of stitch, textures and colours.  The finished piece will be long rectangular in shape –  approx 18cm by 25cm prior to mounting.

In the box there will be your background fabric, stabiliser, variety of yarns, sari silks, wools, sheers and scrims in blues and greens – plus a pop of colour in golds or lilacs.  Feel free to add to the selection you receive with bits and pieces from your own stash.  You do not need an embroidery hoop.

Please have a look at the requirements tab.  Once the horizon line is stitched in, you can then follow the written instructions ,exploring the wealth of different textural techniques, including distressing, couching and manipulating sheers, yarns and silks.

I am really excited to be able to offer this for the first time as a home project – it is not a ‘colour by number’ type kit – rather you will be given the materials and guidance to build up your own very unique landscape and hopefully by being taken through my processes on this one you will have the confidence to tackle future landscape projects.

Included in your box will be: all the fabrics, a variety bundle as described above, full colour instructions and library of machine embroidery stitches. Upon buying the box you will be invited to a dedicated FB page where you can view 30 min video tutorial that take you through the techniques step by step.

Please allow for a two week turnaround upon purchase.

    Just loved this project.
A box of gorgeousness arrived with full instructions for the layered landscape project. You also have access to a series of short videos by Alex that guide you through the process and membership to the layered landscape facebook group so you can share ideas and progress with other students. If you want to include some fabrics from your own stash, that’s fun too.
This home project gives you the time to think and plan for yourself, but at the same time knowing that you have support as and when you need it.

I purchased one Alexandra’s ‘Layered Landscapes’ boxes as a tonic to beat the lockdown blues.

I’m fairly new to machine embroidery and seeing the examples of others’ work, I was a little nervous that I would struggle to produce a comparable piece. However, I needed an excuse to flex my creative muscle so I took the plunge…… I’m so glad that I did!

The hardest part was making a start, but after watching part one of the step by step video tutorials, I was hooked! Then, it just as hard to stop!

This boxed project provides everything you need in the way of materials, ideas and tuition but there is also scope to let your imagination run free. I loved the added support from the dedicated group on social media. It was helpful to share the experience with others who were working through their Layered Landscape box project and access the tutorial videos as and when I needed.

I’ve learnt new skills and embroidery techniques and it’s been a real confidence boost during lockdown.
The result is a truly individual piece which I am actually proud to put on my wall!

Such a lovely experience thank you
