Description
During day one you will be introduced to a number of painterly mono printing techniques such as painted, wiped and drawn. Playing with mark making, layers , pattern and texture to produce rich surfaces. These techniques will be used on fabric and paper using textile paints (binder and pigment), using opaque and transparent binders.
You will produce a set of prints using both a monochromatic colour palette and a vivid / fluorescent colour palette. Using these as the foundations for your collage, you will build confidence is using colour to add emphasis and impact to your work. Day two will cover composition, collage and hand stitching using fluorescent and vivid coloured threads to add further dimension to the work.

Student requirements to bring are:
Kitchen roll and baby wipes
A range of light weight light coloured fabrics; these can be small pieces as each collage will be no larger than 15cm x 15cm (light weight cotton, muslin, any type of thin transparent fabrics)
¼ meter Bondaweb
A small selection of papers such as brown, thick tissue ect (avoid handmade texture papers)
Masking tape
Foam /Sponge rollers
Hard roller
Gloves and apron
Sewing kit – needles, scissors
Arange of hand threads – these should include vivid bright colours, fluorescent if you wish
A range of Mark making tools; ends of paintbrushes, old pens, empty thread cones, empty sellotape, wire wool, knives, forks, credit card, spatulas
Tutor will also bring
Polypropylene sheet /plastic printing sheets , mixing pots and spoons
