Project Textiles 1 : Explorations in Reverse Applique

A four day textile course over two months.  Studio days are structured practical stitch sessions with plenty of time made for critique both with individuals and as a group.

First two sessions will be spent creating samples involving layering, chenille and other fabric manipulation techniques followed by designing your own panel using all the techniques learnt . You can choose to create one large wall hanging from your samples too if you wish.  Materials are supplied by the student but there will be some dyed silk organza and scrim available to purchase from the studio.  A great workshop for gaining confidence with free machining, colour combinations, as well as learning about different fabrics and how they manipulate and distress. This course was a fantastic introduction to developing my own ideas and designs with the expert guidance and inspiration of Alex … I was gently nudged outside of my comfort zone and consequently became more confident and experimental in colours, fabrics, layout and design. I recommend this course to anyone wanting to explore Textile art, design and techniques !
