‘Small Things’ – A Pen, Ink and Watercolour Workshop with Helen Rubinstein – *New!

Explore illustration and painting techniques with local artist Helen Rubinstein.

A trio of small pieces on handmade paper will be our starting point which you may want to present as a gift for Christmas!

There will be the opportunity to make pieces into cards. We should be able, during the workshop, to make 3 or 4 A6 pictures – Maybe more, depending on how much paint you use. More pen means less drying time!

As the very nature of these types of paper limits the amount of wet medium that can be applied, we will also use pens, ink, acrylic paint etc; to achieve the best results.

I will begin with seed heads and then move on to whatever you would like me to demonstrate. Feathers and perhaps or some holly, are also options. I’m happy to work with your suggestions too so do bring some along.

You might just want to adapt my techniques for your own ideas on the variety of papers that I bring. The joy of small pieces is that they can be very effectively mounted in a group or they can shine alone.

New Date 19th January 2022…to include spring flowers. see pics.
