Description
Imagine the thrill of walking with a group of majestic Indian Elephants. Timeless Indian designs so often include these beautiful animals, embellished and embroidered and depicted on so many art forms.
This workshop is inspired by all those things!
Over two days we will create two mixed media artworks, block printed and embellished with stitch and beautiful rare sequins. These can be made into a framed picture, a wall hanging, a cushion or an interactive art journal page.
We will start by painting and printing onto fabric and card with carved wood blocks designed especially for this project. We will decorate, embroider and assemble the elements we have made to create a multi layered spinning wheel so that the elephants can be rotated. These can be mounted in an Indian rag paper book available from Paula if you wish.
On day two you will have the choice of making a similar project using hand carved Bird blocks. You will have the opportunity with both projects to make them from fabric or with card. In fabric, the pieces will be stitched down and can later be made into a beautiful little embellished and kantha stitched mini quilt or cushion.
