Description
Janie will show you all the ‘tricks of the trade’ using various tools as well as how to use your coloured pencils to get the effect you want.
For this workshop you will need a really good photograph of your chosen subject, so you can see all the details. If you have time, tracing your photograph and getting the image onto good quality art paper will give you more time to concentrate on the colouring. The size is up to you but something around the A4 size would be perfect. A Hot Pressed paper is best for this, about 300g in weight.
Tools and coloured pencils will be available to purchase from the tutor on the day if required.
Requirements:
If you have any of these coloured pencils- Faber-Castell Polychromos, Prismacolor, Caran d’Ache Pablo & Luminance and Derwent Artists. Bring what you have.
If you are new to Janie’s workshops Faber Castell Polychromos will be available to buy on the day.
Also bring a good quality pencil sharpner and putty rubber. Again these are available to buy on the day if you wish.
Please bring a couple of pieces of paper as described and your image to work from.
Sharp mechnical pencil for outlining is preferable for your initial sketches – The Pentel Graphgear 1000 is Janie’s favourite – the 0.3 lead is beautifully fine and gives very fine lines. The 0.5 is also excellent.

WOW! The description does what it says! Given Janie’s expert tuition we students all went away with realistic reproductions of our chosen animals dogs, squirrels and a hare – all had been brought to life on paper using coloured pencil. I wouldn’t have thought it was possible, I’m so pleased with my attempt!

What an incredible day. Janie is an expert tutor and helped everyone create really lifelike drawings. I learnt so many techniques and can’t wait to finish my squirrel.
