Once you have chosen a design you will cover a multitude of different techniques – from design transfer to preparing your fabric for paint and applique and the course covers free motion stitch effects that you can achieve with the free machine embroidery foot.

Description

Having chosen your design your first day will be spent outlining your motifs onto your background fabric – the second day you will begin to look at colour and appropriate metallic and opaque paints alongside preparing applique pieces of fabric, building up a highly textural wall hanging. Fabrics such as metallic faux leathers, silks and velvets alongside commercially printed cottons will all have a place in your completed wall hanging.

I will have plenty of fabrics in the studio for you to choose from – and we can make time for you to choose these prior to your first day.
There are a couple of weeks in between each session to allow for ‘homework –   A big project with plenty of scope for loads of machine stitch and embellishment !

Drop me a message if you would like to come to the next planned Contemporary Panel. This is two day course with a few weeks in between each session.

This is an intensive 2-day workshop jammed packed with clever and useful technical instruction. Transfer of pattern onto fabric, machine embroidery, textile painting, appliqué using a selection of fabrics to create dimension and interest, finishing off with machine embroidery for embellishment. This project will keep your mind and fingers busy for longer than the two-days. Wonderful workshop. Thank you Alex.
