Learn how to make a fabulous hand-woven artwork using just needle and thread and a wooden base!
This workshop, like Sarah’s other ‘off-loom’ classes, is all about finding creative ways to weave without a loom. Once you’ve learnt the basics, a whole world of possibilities will open up before you – there is so much milage with this craft.
These long thin pieces look beautiful framed or hung on their own, as a pair, or even as a group. The length of the wooden base provides much scope for design options too – for example; weaving bands of different structures, bands of the same structure but in different colours, creating a gradient from one colour to another – anything goes!
This workshop is suitable for all levels, whether you’ve taken one of Sarah’s off-loom weaving classes before, or whether you’re a total beginner.
During this class, Sarah will be demonstrating a variety of woven structures from the simplest patterns to some more complex and even three dimensional structures. Each participant can expect one to one tutoring, to help develop a design that suits their level.
Sarah will bring a variety of colourful threads of varying thicknesses, and a selection of wooden bases for you to choose from. (please bring £10.00 to cover the cost on the day)
At the end of the workshop, participants will be provided with everything they need to complete their artwork at home.
