Learn multiple ways of pressing plants from a traditional strap press to microwaving. You will find out the best methods for collecting and preparing plants and flowers for pressing.  You will also make a traditional strap press to use in the workshops which you will take home.

There are so many different uses for your pressed plants in art and design and Marion will show examples of her work including cyanotype and Oshibana pictures.

In the afternoon you will be creating your own contemporary Oshibana picture using the artist’s own pressed plants (or any others you may have brought yourself).

*Skill Level: Beginner to Intermediate.

Please bring £18 for materials which will include materials for making a plant press, a selection of pressed plants, card, glue and wear and tear of equipment.

Requirements:

  • Your Lunch.
  • Any previously dried and pressed plants/flowers you may want to use (optional).
  • Plants that you would like to press.

Artist Bio:

Marion is a nature-based artist, photographer, and tutor from Burnham-on-Crouch. She works with a wide variety of media including cyanotype, photography, pressed plants, printmaking, and glass lampwork and is happiest when experimenting and researching new techniques.

She was the artist-in-residence in Epping Forest for a year and has won awards from the Royal Horticultural Society and International Garden Photographer of the Year.
