Description
You will be creating your own original fabric by stencil printing leaf shapes in rich colours onto your chosen cloth. We will layer colours to add depth and overprint directly with leaves to add softer layers of pattern. Once dried and heat set we will embellish with embroidered leaves to create further depth and texture with a broader selection of colour. The samples show just a few embroidered leaves, but we will aim to fill the fabric with texture and stitches to create a tactile fabric to tell your story.
Collect leaves on walks with friends, pick some from your garden and press these, or draw leaves in your sketchbook to develop an interesting selection. We will make paper templates from these before making our stencils to work from. If you can take colour photocopies of leaves these are a useful resource to work from too. (not essential)
