Description
You will have the opportunity to experiment with different block printing techniques on fabric. We will be using a fixable, washable fabric paint. There will be a wide selection of printing blocks to use including blocks for multi and over printing.
Morning session: Printing an apron
Using an apron as a base, you will create your own sampler of techniques that you can embellish at your leisure.
Afternoon session:
Using your own fabric bases, you can create a selection of pieces for future textile wall panels or decorative cushions.
Requirements:
- £15 to cover cost of textile paint and aprons.
- A selection of fabric pieces that you might want to experiment on for the afternoon session. It’s a good way to use up those odd pieces you have lying around. A4/A3 size is good to work with and manage. Don’t go too small. Maybe think about what you might do with your prints later on so that you have sufficient fabric in the right size.
- White/ cream/light coloured fabrics; light/medium weight; pre-dyed/stencilled (maybe from another project); textured; cotton/poly-cotton/calico; any size/shape.
- Close weave fabrics give the crispest print.
- Painting apron to wear
- A piece of fabric to act as a ‘drip’ cloth, about A3 size. An old pillowcase is ideal. This can become its own mini piece of art.
