A collage and hand embroidery workshop enabling you to capture the most engaging features of historical architecture. Domes, towers, archways, crenellations, columns and capitols.
Lots of inspirational images will be provided and an outline sketch can be created.
You will then work with a range of silk fabrics and cotton organdie ( Some of these fabrics will have been painted in advance by me )
A collage is created on interfacing and foiling can be added at this stage using bondaweb if desired.
Hand embroidery is then used to add definition and detail.
The stitches include …. Satin stitch, bullion and french knots, trellis stitch, coral stitch, blanket stitch, fly stitch and back stitch.
All stages and stitches will be demonstrated.
There will be lots of advice and annotated images to inform your composition and colour choices.

Requirements:

  • £5 for materials
  • Fabric cutting and thread cutting scissors.
  • Milliners needles approx size 3-9
  • Tapestry needle size approx 26
  • Feel free to bring any stranded, sateen and fine perle (12). You have in your stash
  • Lunch
