‘Garden Birds on Vintage Fabrics’ with Suzette Smart *2027

£160

Take a beautiful piece of vintage fabric or embroidery and transform it into a charming textile artwork with the addition of one or two of your favourite garden birds. Create a theme or story within your work with colour, words or maybe some vintage ephemera – whatever direction you go in, Suzette will be there with demonstrations and advice throughout the two days.

Description

The layering of textures and stitches creates a unique mixed media piece full of character.

Choose from bird templates provided by Suzette or you may wish to create your own design. You will be shown steps and choices along the way including how to use fabric collage, free machine / hand stitching or a combination of both to bring your song thrush, robins and doves to life. Suzette will show you ideas for stitching your bird including feather stitch.

When your work is complete, you may wish to display it in a large embroidery hoop or add a backing for displaying at home.

Suzette will have a small selection of lightweight fabrics, paper for everyone to use, so you can experiment freely and find just the right colours and textures for your design.
