Description

A lively, varied and engaging hand stitch day. Have fun with something more contemporary. Paint, appliqué, knots, needle-weaving, fabric manipulation, beading and wire work are combined to create an abstract composition with lots of visual and textural impact.
The overall design will evolve in an organic way based on your initial colour and shape choices.
There will be lots of examples for inspiration and to inform your design choices and all stages and stitches will be demonstrated. Mounting and framing options will also be discussed.

Requirements:

  • Your Lunch
  • You will need to provide:
  • Fabric and thread cutting scissors
  • A selection of needles. Medium size crewel, milliners and tapestry. Small size crewel for beading.
  • Medium size paint brush
  • The following materials will be provided at a cost of £5 per person:
  • Painted and unpainted silk, linen and muslin Painted and unpainted iron on interfacing ( woven and non woven )
  • Lumiere and dyna flow fabric paints
  • Hand embroidery threads including perle, stranded, metallic and textured.
  • I will bring a selection of beads ( including lentil beads ) and wire but if you have any unusual beads or buttons you would like to add feel free to bring them along
  • A selection of rings and washers.
  • Holographic film
  • Some painting equipment.
