An opportunity to explore and experiment with lamination and discover how you could include this contemporary material in your own textile work. *Ideal introduction workshop for machine embroidery.

Description

The workshop is a structured day based around a wall hanging created on a coastal theme – however participants can introduce more floral motifs with hand and machine stitch if they wish. Fully utilising the transparent qualities of plastic you will combine materials such as painted bondaweb, sequin waste and metallic sheers, before hand and machine stitching each piece using water-soluble fabric. Students will be shown ways of completing their wall panel at home.

Requirements:

  • all materials inc in fee with exception of below:
  • Your Lunch
  • A4 sheet of Bondaweb (not Heat and Bond)
  • Machine with ext table
  • normal presser foot
  • free motion foot
  • Apron
  • basic sewing needle
  • craft soldering tool if you have one, such as a Margaret Beale. let me know if you need to borrow one.
  • paint brush (one inch across if you have one)
  • Selection of machine embroidery threads
  • Selection of hand threads – ie perle or stranded cotton
  • Chenille needle – if you have one but no need to buy especially.
