A day to really enjoy this fabulous local resource. Working with hand embroidery techniques and small sections of fabric, the following techniques will be explored:

Pleating and gathering taffeta, Fabric manipulation using fascinating pocket weave brocades. Stitch weaving into jacquard fabric. Using hand embroidery and beading to embellish a weave pattern. Picot edging techniques will also be covered .There will be lots of examples to provide inspiration and to help you consider ways of compiling small sections of work to create a composition. All techniques, stitches and stages will be demonstrated.

Requirements:

  • Your Lunch
  • £5 material costs
  • Fabric and thread cutting scissors
  • A selection of hand embroidery needles.
  • Milliners, crewel, medium size plus small crewel for beading .
  • Any Sudbury silk you might have in your stash. (Heavy weight upholstery fabrics are not really suitable )
  • Bring along any threads, beads, wire, ribbons if you wish but this is not essential I will provide.

  • Hand embroidery threads to include stranded, perle, textured, metallic
