Applique Harbour – A Machine Embroidery Course with Alex Waylett *2024

£200

A four day course mentored by Alex, designing and producing your own original textile harbour scene using raw edge applique, paint and thread painting.  Contact Alex to register your interest in attending this course in the future.

Description

A four day course run over two months.  Project Harbour is made up of practical days in the studio and work at home, team feedback as well as one to one mentoring. Outcome will be a completed harbour, no smaller than A3 either inspired from photos from your own holidays or a painted picture. The first session will involve scaling up your design, deciding on how to tackle – ie with paint and/or fabric elements, suitability of fabrics for your project and raw edge applique with the free machine embroidery foot.  Further days will involve paint and ‘thread painting stitch’ demonstrations and personal development time. You will be required to bring your sewing machine in to the studio and please look to the requirements list before booking on the course. This course is open to anyone wishing to take the leap into design and build upon their confidence in free motion stitching. The final day will be a practical day but also one of  consolidation and how to /where to frame/mount the art work will be discussed.  Images shown are by students who have completed the course and you may have seen Stitchers Inc exhibit their pieces at Red Lion Books in Colchester.

Please note that you will need to dedicate a few days to work on your piece at home in between sessions.

If you wish to chat the course over in further detail do drop me an email. Please forward your ideas via email two weeks prior to the course commencing so we can chat over your ideas.
