We will be working with an A3-size beech wood frame loom which comes with a rotating heddle bar. An inspirational variety of wool yarns, including merino, will be supplied in a beautiful selection of colours, along with some fancy Italian yarns to enable you to experiment with texture and colour blending.
You will be introduced to the weaving tools and materials and learn how to set up a frame loom. Start to weave plain weave and learn how to achieve good selvedges.
Introduction to shapes, and using slit joins and clasping.
Introduction to alternative classic weave structures, such as twills and ribs, and learn how to read a lifting plan.
How to use colour gradation in your work using 4 yarns and the splicing technique.
This is an in-depth workshop and you will come away with the technical knowledge required to start weaving independently.
Suitable for complete beginners or those requiring a refresher.
All materials are provided, however you are welcome to bring any yarns of your own you would like to experiment with.
You will have the option to purchase your weaving loom kit and materials at a special rate at the end of the workshop.
