Description
The beautiful shapes of seedpods and plant forms will be used as inspiration to create batiks on tissue paper. Working with hot wax as a resist and inks we will use Jenny’s contemporary approach to this traditional technique. We will use a range of traditional and non traditional tools, ie whisks & potato mashers! to apply the hot wax. On day two we will add to these batiks with free machine embroidery, nets and sheer fabrics to create beautiful layers of texture and colour. Alternatively you can bring needles and yarn to hand stitch if you prefer. It will be possible to do two days of batik if you prefer and add stitch at a later date.
*If choosing to free machine embroider , participants just need to know how to put foot on and have some practice stitching with the feed dogs down.
