So lovely to see you ! July-Aug 2021

It has been truly lovely to be able to invite you in again and see the place buzzing – and I get a warped pleasure from even hoovering after a workshop- although Im sure that won’t last too long!

It has been a busy few months since we opened. A big thanks to artists; Angela Woodget, Lesley Phillips , Denise Stocker, Juliet Day and Lorraine George who’s work has been much admired throughout June and July.

Wendy Mansfield went down a storm this week with her goldwork bugs and dragonflies. She’s back again throughout next year with an eclectic mix of birds, spiders and hares…and bees I hope to make an appearance this December.

A big thank you to Gaye Parker who came back and gave us some bouncing hares once more and to Amarjeet Nandhra who gave us a fantastic first time here with handstitch course – and hauled all her beautiful samples from london for us to drool over.

Another highlight was of course Anne Kelly – four days on the trott! We loved having you and really looking forward to having you back for another week next year.

And today I have just de-resined the studio from another fabulous two days with Mr Varney. I love his workshop – everyone was buzzing from their creations – he has an ability to put every one at ease and seamlessly guides everyone to creating masterpieces with no prior experience of resin at all. Do get in contact if you would like to come in 2022.

Janie Pirie, coloured pencil artist extraodinaire, has just given me some new dates for next year so do get in contact if you are interested in drawing citrus fruit, shells and flowers. These one day workshops will be published on here shortly.

The fabulous Melanie Keating has given us her new ‘Moth on Cloth’ Workshop next year https://alexandrawaylett.com/product/moth-on-cloth-with-mellymade-designs-new-2022/ and I am excited to announce we have dressmaking back at the studio with new Tutor; Patricia Murphy, https://www.facebook.com/joyzjust4u. She will be teaching a five day course in the spring, spread across a number of weeks on a Tuesday in the Spring term and this can be viewed here: https://alexandrawaylett.com/product/2022-spring-dressmaking-course-with-patricia-murphy/

Something very new for Christmas – check out Celia’s houses – a local artist booked here for the first time in December. I came across her delightful ornaments on instagram and am excited to have her here : https://alexandrawaylett.com/product/little-wooden-houses-with-celia-of-blue-brushes-new-2021/. A workshop suitable for all – she will bring the wood pre-cut which particpants will then paint and compose as they wish. I love the washing line!

Vikki Walsh is also back with her gorgous mice doorstops. You will produce a pair on the day from an array of fabrics that she brings. Our mice still grace our stairs and make me smile every day. Basic sewing skills required. https://alexandrawaylett.com/product/sat-on-park-bench-like-a-pair-of-tweed-book-ends/

I have updated the course availability list 2021 below. If a workshop on the website is showing as full and you would like to come do drop me an email. I am expecting a lot of movement on each of the workshops as the country begins to open up and will endeavour to keep the below workshop schedule up to date.

Stitchers Inc Textiles Group finally get to display their long awaited exhibition : ‘Another Stitch in the Wall’ at the Mill Tye Gallery , Great Cornard, Sudbury, CO10 0GW. The exhibition will be shown for four weeks from 2nd Oct , Thurs-Sun each week https://www.milltyegallery.co.uk/ . More details to follow.

Design For Stitch – A ten day course across 12 months:

This year I have split the new group into two smaller groups of six, and running from September through to June 2022. All the ladies have had their dates moved several times and have had to be so patient! But fingers crossed we can finally get the course back up and running in September. I love teaching this course – something I am very proud of as it has developed and grown over ten years of teaching . If you are interested in starting the course in September 2022 do contact me for more information – and have a look at the link here where you can view past students work. https://alexandrawaylett.com/product/design-for-stitch-a-ten-day-course-over-a-year/

And thats it for now! Thank you and hope to see you very soon.
